Just a few hours away from DC, this vacation home is a modern mountain retreat from the bustle of the city. Located on the side of a mountain, this home is oriented for breathtaking views of the Shenandoah Valley. Its open floor plan is anchored by a window wall with multi-slide doors that open to the outside deck, bringing the outdoor in, and a wood-burning fireplace in the main living space adds a cozy touch to the modern-style.
Built with comfort and efficiency in mind, this home features high-efficiency heating and cooling, a hybrid hot water heater, and an EV charger. The wall system is designed for energy-efficiency and to reduce drafts with careful consideration for materials, utilizing dense-packed cellulose insulation between the studs and one inch of foam exterior insulation to create a thermal break. These clients were actively involved in the design and nitty-gritty of the build, and they were amazing to work. This home was very rewarding to build.
